Legend Music - Part I

Not far from the system of Orion, there is a planet, simply called by its inhabitants Our Planet. Its inhabitants are simple folk called The Gnome. They live in a land called Xaria. Their loves include water and work. They take special pride in their love of water. They swim in it, drink it, and throw it at each other all of their free time. Their unfree time is the time of work. Their work is known all over the land.

On another land called Nightland there is a forgotten cave. The cave belongs to a forgotten evil sorcerer called The Dark Lord Dnuos, manipulator of sound. Dnuos has been awakened from a magic sleep, lasting a thousand years. The first thing he does, as a fully awake sorcerer, is to release an evil magic army force called The Forgm, and a fleet of winged lizards from a magic NoMovement spell.

Meanwhile, in the land of The Gnome, a special celebration is made. The Gnome have built a flying machine, and they are ready to fly. A special march of Gnome Dignitaries is made in honor of the brave Gnome pilots, and the whole event is named "The Xarian Hope".

Back at the Nightlandish cave, Dnuos, using his magic powers, seeing it as an opportunity to conquer Xaria. He releases his Forgm forces and his winged lizards on the Xarians. The Gnome are captured, and Xaria is ruined. The captured Gnome are made slaves, and Dnuos uses octagon sounds to control them. He puts them to work on a machine called The Night Dnuos. It's designed to put The Gnome to sleep, until he'll make up his mind what to do with them. The Gnome, finding themselves asleep, dream of freedom, work, and water.

Legend Music - Part II

Dark Lord Dnuos awakes the Gnome. He puts them to work on a new mind control machine. When it is finished, he has them building some buildings. A hundred years go by.

Meanwhile, at Xaria, some Gnome have survived. The Gnome flying machines have become a legend among them, but now they are found again, and the surviving Xarian Gnome learn how to fly them. They give other surviving Gnome flying lessons. Their goal is to launch a counterattack on Dnuos from the air, and release the captive Gnome slaves. When they try this, Dnuos turns them into Graveyard Zombies. Now all the Gnome are captive slaves.

Life continues for The Gnome, and new Gnome children are born. One of then is Oggy, a deaf Gnome. Dnuos uses sounds to control The Gnome, but Oggy can't hear. Oggy learns how the Dnuos machines work, and he uses his skill for reversing the machines. The Gnome are now free from the control of Dnuos. They kill him, and make Oggy their leader. His first act as their leader is to make their freedom day a special celebration day, calling it The Day of Hope and Victory. Xaria is rebuilt, and The Gnome live happily ever after.

First, I didn't have the budget to record it and later I moved into different musical territories and the Legend Music project was abandoned.

My son was born in December, 1996. When he was very little, I wrote a few songs for him and decided to make a cassette recording that would help him sleep better at night. Those tracks are Evyatar, Boogadoo, What a Kid and Don't Say No. I also added to the cassette some tracks I wrote back in the late 80's about childhood. Those are Embryo, Birth and All of the Children. Those three tracks are part of a concept album I never finished, depicting life, from the womb to death. All of the Children also had some lyrics that I rerecorded, so it's the only track with singing. Song With A Feather is a track I wrote when I was a child, at the age of 13. Curiosity was added because I was thinking for a while of releasing this as a commercial release, and I needed a single.

In 1989 I wrote an untitled musical piece that later became Nightfall 5. In 1992, when I purchased the new multi timbral synthesizer and a sequencer, I decided remix it and that remix became Nightfall 1. In 1997, when I came back to writing music, I decided to take those two pieces as the base for a longer five part piece, and that is what you're going to hear today.

The Multi Timbral Sessions - Part 1, Do.

In 1992 I purchased a multi timbral synthesizer and a sequencer. A multi timbral synthesizer can play several parts at once. You do that by playing the parts into the sequencer, adding another part each time. This way, I was able to play up to 9 parts at once. On the Multi Timbral Sessions I'll be playing you the music I wrote between 1996 and 2001.

Can you write a book using only one letter? Can you write a symphony with only a single note? That is what I'm finding out in Do, a highly minimal musical piece. This was one of the first pieces I wrote on the multi timbral synthesizer and it uses the "Do" note exclusively.

Night Guy is the theme music for a new podcast I'm working on, called Night Guy (now how surprising is that?).

China is a new musical piece I wrote that for some reason evoked in me visions of China. I've never been there, so my vision might be completely wrong.

Thermo and Omreth are two opposite twins existing on another sphere of existence.

C is an old recording I made in the mid 90's. I must have been listening to Terry Riley allot at that period.

I had a writer's block this month. I couldn't write a single note of music, then something miraculous happened - a spaceship landed on my doorstep and out came a band of alien musicians that offered to help me finish this month's podcast. The first part is collaboration work with those peaceful aliens. They sang some of their traditional chants and played traditional alien music, which I enhanced with my own interpretations. One of them even sang a song from one of my previous podcasts. This fun part was inspired by the Diggers Story podcast - check it out, you won't regret it :)

The last two tracks are an old recording I made back in 1991 called "A Mouth In A Box" and a new recording incorporating a loop, taken from a track called "Love Poison" from the same 1991 session.

The Ethereal

I was going through some of my old tapes, when I came across a recording I did back in 1992. This song was very different from anything I ever wrote, and it had my wife singing in it. I decided to take a small sample of my wife's singing and build a completely new piece around it.

Words

Words - what are they but a reflection of reality?

Words - they melt into meaning, and out of meaning. They are a reflection of reality, but not reality itself. They are our own vision of reality since reality is not reflected in words, but words are reflected in reality.

Words are our way of representing realty. They are what we see as reality but not reality itself.

Peace

Peace is art, whether it's painting, sculpting, music, literature or any other form of art. In art we create new realities. Art is the opposite of war, for the essence of war is destruction while the essence of art is creation, therefor - art is a form of peace.

Time and Consciousness

Time is elusive. It can't be touched, though we seem to feel it passing. It is a fourth dimension, all though we're not sure if it's possible to travel in it. It leaves it's mark, changes things constantly. It can be measured, but measurements differ relative to speed, energy and mass. In some ways, time is a surreal experience, changeable through art and music with the use of technology.

We try to hold time in our hand, with departure breathing down our neck. We try to catch the best of time, but we are always aware of the passing of time. We stroll through the ruins of time, trying to make sense of the bird of our life before it goes on it's way.

Time stands still and stares. Into the chasm we go as the pale light flickers into the unknown. Time stands still again as if he always knew, the waves that call us home are just the shadow of passing by.

Our children look into the future. Using a computer is as natural as eating or sleeping for the next generation. They will grow up embracing new technologies, developing them, and as technology will develop our children will befriend technology, making it part of them, becoming part of it, part of the pattern of frequencies.

Frequencies are all around us, in color, in sound, in the air and in the water. Frequencies have the shape of chaos. They are both random and highly organized. Frequencies are the shapes and sounds of life. There's a light shining through. It's the light of knowledge, it's the light of wisdom, it's the light shining through new technologies, advancing the human race to a new horizon.

She is being created in a void, by a passing stream of electronic chaos. She is being created by light. She is being given birth, not in the ordinary way, but in an artificial way. She is almost ready to step out of the light, and into the real world, but when she gets there - what would she find? What is the purpose of her creation? A new artificial being, introduced into a world of the future.

She is the ghost in the machine. She is the human component in the artificial. She is the connection between technology and biology. She is the real in the unreal.

She is strolling along the paths of her sub conscience, looking for her alter ego, lost a long time ago. See comes alone some ruins, where she finds her other self, trapped in a rusty cage. Then, her alter ego is free from the cage, but now there is a chasm and a glass wall between them.

We fight a constant internal battle. It's a battle against ourself, between our conscience mind and our sub conscience self. It's like splitting into two entities, one that we perceive as ourself and one which is our true self. It is said that when we lose that battle, we lose our sanity.

The Emerald Cavern of Tears, is where sorrows are being processed with compassion and turned into dreams of hope. Reflection of pure thought, a pure play of light, transparencies and dreams, forged in light and fire.
